Automatic movement runs and keeps good time. Service history is unknown. I got this from an estate sale so service is highly recommended.

The crystal has scratches that can be polished out but I think it shadows beautifully on the dial.

Case and case back does have dings and scratches.

No band. No bracelet.

This is a magnificent vintage watch. A must for any watch or Bulova collector.

This watch is used and thus being sold “as is” with no warranty. No box and no papers. No returns, so please see all photos for conditioning. Photos are part of the description.

Thanks for looking.

Summary of Vintage Bulova USA 1972 Art Deco 23J Self Winding 10KT RGF Watch – Estate Find, Runs

The Vintage Bulova USA 1972 Art Deco 23J Self Winding 10KT RGF Watch is a timepiece that encapsulates the essence of 1970s Art Deco design and American watchmaking. This vintage Bulova watch is a collector’s gem, known for its unique aesthetics, reliable self-winding movement, and historical significance. In this section, we will explore the key attributes of this vintage treasure, including its design, movement, and service considerations.

Art Deco Design
The Vintage Bulova USA 1972 Art Deco Watch is a prime example of the Art Deco design movement, which was prominent in the 1920s and 1930s but continued to influence design in subsequent decades. The watch features an Art Deco-inspired case design, characterized by geometric lines, sharp angles, and distinctive ornamentation.

The watch’s gold-toned 10KT rolled gold-filled (RGF) case is a testament to the era’s opulence and sophistication. The dial is often adorned with elegant hour markers and hands that reflect the Art Deco aesthetic. This design language gives the watch a timeless appeal that transcends its original period.

Self-Winding Movement
At the heart of the Vintage Bulova USA 1972 Art Deco Watch is a self-winding movement with 23 jewels. The self-winding mechanism eliminates the need for manual winding, as it harnesses the kinetic energy generated by the wearer’s wrist movements to power the watch. This feature ensures the watch remains operational with regular wear.

The presence of 23 jewels in the movement indicates a commitment to precision and durability. Jewels are used as bearings in the watch’s movement to reduce friction and enhance longevity. The inclusion of a substantial number of jewels is a hallmark of quality in mechanical watchmaking.

Estate Find and Running Condition
Many vintage watches, including the Vintage Bulova USA 1972 Art Deco Watch, are discovered in estate sales, attics, or hidden away for decades. An “estate find” watch often carries an air of mystery and intrigue, as it may come with limited information about its history.

The watch’s running condition is a significant consideration for collectors and buyers. If the vintage Bulova watch is described as “running,” it means that the movement is operational and keeping time. However, it is advisable to have vintage watches examined by a professional watchmaker to ensure their accuracy and reliability.
