Available for sale is my Rolex Submariner No-Date Ref: 5513
The R-Serial dates the watch to 1988, which was one of the final production years for the 5513 and 4-digit subs in general. It was recently serviced by Bob Ridley who completed a movement service and waterproof testing. He confirmed this was the first time the watch had ever been serviced and that all parts are original. Reciept for service (from previous owner) included in photos, and I am sure he would be happy to verify that I was the purchaser of the watch.
Overall, this watch is in phenomenal vintage condition. This final version of the 5513 includes white gold surrounds of the indices and tritium lume which has aged beautifully. Desipte the lighter color, the hands are indeed original and are known to age differently from the indices. Close-up photos do show their age however this is hard to see with the naked eye.
The dial is a very nice example of the “spider” defect, which I tried to capture in the photos.
You will notice the case and lugs are in great unpolished condition – the lower right lug, in particular, has a story to tell 🙂
The bracelet, also unpolished to my knowledge, includes 11 links (one is uninstalled) and is the original 93150/580. There is no visible stretch and it wears very nicely.
Would be thrilled to see this go to another 1988 kid looking for a birthyear watch for themselves, or, of course, anyone else who is ready to make new memories with a great vintage Submariner.
I would be open to trading up for a white dial Daytona of any era. Otherwise looking for a straight sale to fund my upgrade.
Thank you for your consideration.
