The Special Projects SP One represents an architectural departure for MB&F, conceived around an open amphitheatre dial layout. Beneath an ultra-domed sapphire crystal, a vivid sky blue flange encircles a three-dimensional mechanical display. The design arranges timekeeping elements into three floating circles, balancing mechanical theatre with pure horological purpose.
At the heart of the watch is the in-house SP One hand-wound calibre, composed of 189 components and 31 jewels. Operating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz, the movement showcases a suspended signature balance wheel at 2 o’clock, countered by a skeletonised mainspring barrel at 10 o’clock that delivers a power reserve of 72 hours. Dark ruthenium-coated bridges feature hand-polished bevels, internal angles, and traditional gold chatons.
Hours and minutes are presented on an inclined sub-dial at 6 o’clock, oriented directly towards the wearer. This angled display utilizes precision conical gearing, finished in black DLC with rhodium-plated hands, allowing effortless legibility without turning the wrist.
Crafted from solid 950 platinum, the pebble-shaped case measures 38 mm in diameter, 12 mm in height, and 41.9 mm lug-to-lug. Featuring detached lugs and water resistance to 30 metres, the compact geometry contours naturally against the wrist, pairing substantial metal mass with ergonomic wearability.
