What separates the AB0138 from a hundred other 43mm chronographs is what’s under the dial and around the wrist. The Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 is a true in-house movement with a column-wheel chronograph, COSC chronometer certification, and a 70-hour power reserve, visible through the exhibition sapphire caseback. The bidirectional slide-rule bezel is the original pilot’s flight computer, capable of conversions, multiplications, and fuel calculations in the air. The rouleaux bracelet, often described as basket-weave for its woven look, is the collector-grade pairing for this reference. With full Breitling factory warranty still active for years to come, this is about as complete a package as the AB0138 gets.
