Vintage Rolex Submariner 16800 Matte Dial 1984 Stainless Steel Boxes/Booklets! This beautiful & rare Rolex comes with the outer box, inner bufkor box (Missing correct pillow insert), both booklets, COSC paperwork, and the correct year calendar card. Excellent thick case that has scratches and light nicks throughout. The bezel shows wear and has faded lovely, starting that ghost like fade. The bracelet is the 93150 with correct year “H” stamp on clasp. The serial number and reference are still crisp and legible on the case. The hour & minute hand appears to possibly have been replaced, but they do not glow. Serial #’s and names are blurred in photos only for privacy reasons. The 16800 is referred to as a transitional model. Rolex went from acrylic to sapphire crystal, an updated movement with quick-set date, and at the beginning of the run the watches featured matte dials like the previous 1680. Later in the production Rolex changed the dials to glossy with white gold surrounds. These are known as transitional models due to the blend of older and new features Rolex decided to use together. These early 16800s with matte dials are the perfect mix of vintage styling with modern touches like the sapphire glass and quick-set date. I am happy to answer all questions about the watch.
